The Hyeongje Grill at Ortigas Center Raise the Standard for Korean “Samgyupsal” Dinners

A Samgyupsal feast in the Philippines is now a multi-sensory adventure through Filipino cuisine, accompanied by infectious laughter and priceless memories shared with loved ones. The folks at Hyeongje Grill in Ortigas Center are well-versed in it. That’s why it has everything that makes Korean barbecue and samgyupsal so special: it’s located on the metro side.

Guests of the Red Planet Hotel, families, and Ortigas office workers frequent Hyeongje Grill, which is situated on the ground floor of the hotel on Shaw Boulevard in San Antonio, Pasig City. It didn’t begin grilling until May of 2024, but it’s making a name for itself among the area’s most dedicated foodies.

The samgyupsal feast at Hyeongje Grill is the main attraction, and for good reason: the premium cuts of meat and fresh sides, served with the special excitement of a grilling experience, are sure to please even the pickiest eater. For the highest quality Korean BBQ, the restaurant employs charcoal instead of LPG. Rest assured, the exhaust at each table is always well-maintained, so there’s no need to be concerned. The best part is the affordable pricing for the limitless grilling feast, which can be as little as₱549 during certain times of the day.

Beef Bulgogi and the incredible Samgyup bowl, which includes rice, kimchi, lettuce, fishcake, and grilled pork or beef, are two other noteworthy meals on the menu. The bowl is perfect for clients who are in a rush or who are on the move.

Hyeongje Grill offers a wider variety of dishes than just Korean BBQ. Korean and Japanese flavors come together in this fusion dish. Beef Gyudon, Chicken Tenders (with Karaage), Tempura, Beef Yakiniku, and Wagyu Ribeye are just a few of the other popular items on the menu. Its tempura, chicken karaage, and beef gyudon rice bowls will surely become famous.

All samgyupsal dinners include complimentary ice cream, so there’s no complicated dessert selection. Frozen treats like Melona bars and other famous Korean treats are also available.

When families visit Hyeongje Grill, they can order kid-friendly dishes to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Tempura, Chicken Karaage, Beef Yakiniku, and Grilled Plain Beef with Salt and Pepper are some of the most beloved foods among youngsters. For children under the age of seven, the price drops to half price, and those under the height of four can eat for free.

Distinct from the crowd

Hyeongje Grill’s co-owner Reb Garcia explains that the restaurant stands out from the competition thanks to its emphasis on high-quality food and ambiance. Above all else, we value our clients’ opinions and work hard to incorporate their suggestions into our service. Our main differentiation is that.

Reb Garcia, Co-Owner of Hyeongje Grill

Not only does Hyeongje Grill have a tantalizing menu, but its location and ambiance also make a big impression. Located just 2 kilometers from major Pasig City and Mandaluyong City grilling joints, the place is easy to miss. Customers who drive can park in front of the eatery in plenty of spaces.

There are 18 tables within the restaurant, each with its own exhaust system, and a maximum capacity of 63 people can be served at once.
With enough space for ten or twelve people, Hyeongje Grill even offers a separate VIP area. Groups that value privacy while dining, meeting, or singing their hearts out can reserve this VIP room.

You can see the glass-enclosed kitchen from the side of the restaurant. “We intend the kitchen to be open for viewing so our customers can see how we cut our fresh meat and ensure freshness of our supplies,” Garcia adds.

You can get some cool drinks made at the open bar that’s right at the door. Soju, Japanese whisky, local beer products, and Japanese beer types are some of the spirited drinks offered at Hyeongje, which helps to explain why it’s a popular spot for professionals looking to unwind after a hard day at work or on weekends. In the near future, the eatery plans to create its own line of alcoholic cocktails.

The fifteen-person crew that works the restaurant’s three shifts every day—three cooks and a variety of dining and kitchen attendants—makes for an excellent eating experience. The staff here are real players, and they all share my vision for providing exceptional service and the best food to our customers. I encourage them to do a good job since I am their leader,” Garcia says.

Growth strategies

Hyeongje Grill has only been open for a short time, but it has already seen the growth opportunities for both its services and its brand. The restaurant is now just delivering to local offices, but they have big plans to extend this service so that more people in the city and beyond can have Hyeongje Grill in the comfort of their own homes.

Online ordering and delivery are currently under development. Like the recent meticulous and successful integration of credit card and e-wallet payments into our payment terminals, we are working on a dependable system, according to Garcia.

In addition, he drops hints that a second Hyeongje Grill location, most likely in the southern part of Metro Manila, is in the works for the near future. “Things are looking up for us right now. We are already in full swing, and I have no doubt that growth will soon set in. According to Garcia, they are even looking at forming a partnership with Red Planet Hotels in order to expand their branches to all of the locations where the hotel is located.

The 37-year-old Garcia owns and operates businesses in a wide range of industries, including business process outsourcing (BPO), foreign exchange (ForEx), co-working spaces, computer and laptop distribution, and Airbnb leasing, among others. The first restaurant he ever owned, Hyeongje Grill, was co-owned by his brother and a buddy from the United States who they also consider a brother. “That’s why the restaurant is called ‘Hyeongje,’ which is a Korean word for ‘brothers,'” according to him.

At the Ortigas Center in San Antonio, Pasig City, you can find Hyeongje Grill at Lot 5 Blk 4, Shaw Boulevard. It is open from Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. and from Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Send an email to hyeongjegrill@gmail.com or give them a call at 09209026248 if you have any questions.

Chomp Chomp: Composting Made More Fun by Filipino YouTube Series

  • Mondelēz International Launches Episode 3 of Miming and Friends Youtube Series
  • In support of the EPR Law, the animated series aims to expand awareness of waste management

Mondelēz International, in collaboration with the locally-made animated YouTube series “Miming and Friends,” continues its commitment to promoting Sustainable Snacking and waste management practices. With the launch of Episode 3 supported by the Company and Save Philippine Seas, the animated characters in the mini-series aim to make composting fun and understandable for kids and their families.

Miming and Friends is the creation of husband-and-wife tandem: Ramon del Prado and Meryll Yan, who are based in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. Now in its third episode, the mini-series aims to educate children and families about the importance of biodegradable waste management and composting. The series was first launched in 2021 and is in support of the Extended Producers’ Responsibility (EPR) Law, which obliges companies to collect and divert their plastic waste to avoid them becoming marine litter. This is an area where Mondelēz International has made great strides in its efforts by pledging to collect and divert 100% of its post-consumer plastic packaging starting in 2023 and beyond.

Building on the success of previous episodes focusing on waste segregation and plastic recycling, the latest installment of “Miming and Friends” delves into the significance of proper handling of biodegradable waste. Led by Cat-Fish Miming, flying lizard Buboy, and Unicorn Anacorn, the series creatively explores how individuals can make a positive impact on the environment by composting organic materials. The cast of characters are joined by other animal friends who help them on their journey of self-discovery. There’s Darling the Dugong who imparts knowledge on waste segregation; Aling Ermi the Hermit Crab who teaches plastic recycling; and featured in the third episode is Basilyo the Bacteria, who sings about chomping his way to turn biodegradable waste into compost.

“At Mondelēz International, we are committed to empowering people to snack right, not only by offering delicious products but also by promoting Sustainable Snacking,” says Caitlin Punzalan, Corporate and Government Affairs Lead of Mondelēz International in the Philippines. “Through our partnership with ‘Miming and Friends,’ we aim to instill environmental consciousness in children and families, encouraging them to play an active role in waste management even at an early age. We are leveraging the medium of YouTube to make sure anyone can access it, wherever they are located. Environmental protection is on all of us, and we want to make this available and understandable for all.”

Creatively Promoting Sustainability

The collaboration between Mondelēz International and “Miming and Friends” underscores a shared vision of fostering a future where people and the planet thrive.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Mondelēz International and ‘Miming and Friends’ in creating educational content that empowers children to become stewards of the environment,” says Anna Oposa, Chief Mermaid and Executive Director of Save Philippine Seas (SPS). This is a non-profit organization that aims to conserve coastal and marine resources by empowering seatizens for collective action and behavior change. “By teaching children about composting and biodegradable waste management early on, we are laying the foundation for a more sustainable future,” adds Oposa.

The third episode of “Miming and Friends” not only entertains with a catchy song but also educates, delivering valuable lessons on responsible waste management in a fun and engaging manner. As Mondelēz International and its partners strive towards strengthening the circular economy of plastic in the Philippines, initiatives like “Miming and Friends” help play a crucial role in shaping a more sustainable society.

BATBURGS The Cutest Burgers In Town

At a time when burgers seem to be getting bigger and bigger, here’s a burger brand that proves that size doesn’t always matter. Meet BatBurgs —the cutest burgers in town!

The burger joint started as a food truck way back in 2015 when Bateng Arde, BatBurgs’ Owner and Founder thought of creating a fun, little burger concept—mini burgers. BatBurgs are offered at around 2 – 2.5 inches.

“We thought of serving these mini burgers in a box to keep everything easy to grab and eat, and share within family and friends,” said Bateng.

Bateng Arde, Owner & Founder of BatBurgs

With just a capital of Php 2000, Bateng reopened BatBurgs as a food delivery service to earn a living during the pandemic. It instantly became a huge hit in the community of Dasmariñas and because of this they were able to open their first shop.

“People are amused and surprised with our cute burgers. Immediately, it may seem lacking in size, but our burgers are big in flavor and serving. Our customers always say that every bite is a delightful surprise.” said Sarah Salido, BatBurgs’ Managing Partner.

Their best seller is Party Box with 12 pcs of mini burgers with assorted flavors: Classic TLC, Cheese, Barbecue and Garlic.

“Our burgers are definitely unique not just in size but also because of how they are made with our fully customized homemade brioche buns and beef burger patties,” she added.

BatBurgs Party Box

Aside from serving mini burgers, BatBurgs has expanded its menu to snack boxes, mini sausage, takodogs, fries and soda pop drinks.

BatBurgs Party Dogs

In 2021, the team organized a Community Pantry for 1000 kids and families in Brgy. Bukal, Cavinti, Laguna. They also participated in Feed It Forward PH’s Father’s Day “Community Patty”. As people lined up, they were given BatBurgs burgers for breakfast.

BatBurgs also accepts bulk orders and burgers set up for events.

You can order via their Facebook or Instagram and it will be delivered right at your doorstep. For dine in, and take-outs, visit their branches:

The espresso machine is a model right out of the dreams of coffee enthusiasts who want to enjoy third-wave coffee without fuss by marrying precision with speed. The Barista Pro delivers quality specialty coffee using its four keys formula that combines the ideal dosage, the right temperature, optimal pressure, and sufficient steam for every cup that you make.

The product DNA of this new model was specially made for those who want their coffee to be excellent and fast. It is equipped with a Thermojet Heating System that provides optimum extraction temperature in three seconds, so you don’t have to wait. With a single touch of a button, this espresso machine also delivers the perfect amount of coffee that is packed with maximum flavor.

Quality-wise, the Barista Pro delivers cups that can rival any cafe. You can expect to enjoy full-bodied sips laced with rich and complex flavors that can only be achieved by having a perfect dose of 18g freshly ground beans from a professional 54mm stainless steel portafilter. Be ready to experience opulent, creamy, and caramel-colored shots of espresso delivered from low-pressure pre-infusions and a high-pressure 9-bar extraction process from a 15-bar Italian pump. Silky, velvety microfoam milk is also created by its powerful steam wand.

Quality, convenience, and expertise. These are three things you can expect from the Breville Barista Pro which was made for the no-fuss coffee enthusiast. If you’re ready to experience a new era of coffee enjoyment—one that is on your terms and own timing—then this is the perfect product for you to bring home. The model retails for P79,999 but you can also trade up if you have other Breville models of espresso machines.

On the other hand, let’s talk about Breville The Barista Express Impress. This new espresso maker is the best kitchen partner to bring home if you are a busy bee. From its design to its features, the espresso machine was created to fit the lifestyle of those who want to get the most out of their coffee experience but do not have the luxury of time to make one. The model’s product DNA speaks for itself. As Breville’s first assisted manual espresso machine, the Barista Express Impress is the definition of convenience, quality, and simplicity.

One of the star features of the model is its Impress Puck System which helps craft the best cup for you. The system involves intelligent dosing which automatically calculates the dosage you need. From there, the machine will precisely tamp with a 10kg impression and 7-degree barista twist for a polished puck. The system also gauges when the correct level is achieved and makes sure to use this for your next brewing.

Like the other impressive models of espresso machines of Breville Philippines, the Barista Express Impress also delivers Third Wave Specialty Coffee using the four keys formula which, other than providing the ideal dosage, also sets the right temperature, optimal pressure, and sufficient steam for your coffee.

Furthermore, it proves that better coffee is for everyone and that anyone can #BringThemHome if they have the right home partners by their side.
