BDO and Japan’s Seven Bank Remittance Collaboration Grows

Overseas Filipinos in Japan prioritize convenience and reliability when transferring money home. BDO Unibank, Inc. (BDO) and Seven Bank have pledged to satisfy loyal Kabayans and attract new ones to their growing platform.

Supporting Overseas Filipinos in Japan since 2016. BDO’s remittance network in Japan started with the opening of a BDO Remit office in Shinjuku. The alliance with Seven Bank a year later enabled BDO to reach customers beyond the Shinjuku/Tokyo area to various prefectures of Japan.

The 2017 announcement of the strategic alliance of banking leaders from two of Asia’s strong economies was promising. Seven years later, both institutions agree the relationship has benefited their clients. BDO and Seven Bank are exploring ways to expand their cooperation to other products and services.

Seven Bank President and Representative Director Masaaki Matsuhashi praised BDO’s customer emphasis. Seven Bank shares this value. BDO is passionate and aggressive about offering innovative services to customers, so we want to work with them.”

Seven Bank’s International Money Transfer app allows clients to transfer money from Japan to the Philippines conveniently on their mobile phones.

Fast and secure remittance to the Philippines. Using Seven Bank’s International Money Transfer mobile app, Overseas Filipinos in Japan are assured of 24×7 delivery of their remittances to their loved ones back home.

BDO Senior Vice President and head of Remittance Genie T. Gloria said, “We saw that one hurdle for Filipino workers in Japan is visiting banks and remittance centers during the daytime due to their work schedule. Our partnership with Seven Bank is a game changer, enabling 24×7 remittance via their mobile app and 27,000 ATMs across Japan.”

Matsuhashi noted BDO’s global reach: “For Filipinos living in Japan, everybody knows BDO and feels secure and safe with the BDO network. Seven Bank is known to Filipinos in Japan. BDO and Seven Bank are trusted and reliable.”

BDO has the largest physical and digital presence for overseas Filipinos and families. With BDO Kabayan Savings, beneficiaries can receive and withdraw money 24/7 from anywhere in the Philippines using over 5,700 ATMs. Cash Pick-up Anywhere lets them claim money at over 14,000 sites nationwide, including over 1,700 BDO and BDO Network Bank branches, BDO Remit counters in SM malls, and over 12,000 Cash Agad partner-agents.

BDO’s reliability as a partner and service provider impressed Matsuhashi, along with its extensive accessibility. “Remittances sometimes fail to send in the remittance business. With BDO, senders and recipients complete all transactions. This is a BDO strength.

BDO’s broad and long-standing network of remittance partners from North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific shares Seven Bank’s favorable views and expertise.

Overseas Filipino remittances are one of the largest in the world and reached a historic high of US$37.2 billion in 2023.

BDO Foundation Opens 2025 With The Completion Of Four Recently Renovated RHUs.

More than 96,000 Filipinos throughout various regions of Luzon and the Visayas will benefit from four recently renovated rural health units (RHUs), which were turned over by BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, to celebrate the new year.

Two health facilities in Capiz, namely Sapian Rural Health Unit and Birthing Clinic and Ivisan Rural Health Unit and Birthing Facility, were refurbished by the BDO Foundation to support the country’s ability to provide essential health services at the grassroots level. In addition to Pilar Rural Health Unit in Bohol and Peñarrubia Rural Health Unit in Abra, the foundation also restored both of these units. The BDO Foundation has restored 195 outlying health centers around the country.

With the help of the local government units and their municipal health officers, the BDO Foundation renovated the inside and outside of the health centers to make them better places to heal and be healthy. To make sure that the community is comfortable when they visit the centers for their regular check-ups, the foundation established sections for children, nursing mothers, and older residents in various RHUs.

The BDO Foundation has long held the view that RHUs play an essential role in enhancing the provision of primary healthcare. They play an essential role in the community by providing essential primary health care services such as checkups, immunizations, and other preventative measures.

Newly rehabilitated RHUs. The health centers aim to be more patient-centric and conducive to wellness.

Our goal is to ensure that all Filipinos may easily and comfortably obtain primary health care. Mario Deriquito, president of the BDO Foundation, expressed the hope that their modest gift will enable health personnel to deliver better services and aid patients in receiving better care.

One of BDO Foundation’s continuing initiatives is the RHU rehabilitation program. Branch officers of BDO Unibank and BDO Network Bank suggest deserving RHUs to the foundation, which then proceeds to refurbish health centers nationwide.

Empowering the Next Generation Through Education, One Cash Loan at a Time

A story about achieving dreams and finding support during tough times with Home Credit

In a culture where education is considered invaluable, most families prioritize schooling to empower the next generation; and, although finishing education poses challenges especially financial ones, there are unwavering pillars in every family who dedicate their every waking moment to providing a better life for their loved ones.

However, despite their dedication, these pillars, whether they are the parents, the eldest siblings, or the breadwinners of the family, sometimes need reliable support to keep them moving forward, no matter how grueling the challenges may be.

Committed to being the Filipinos’ financial ally, Home Credit Philippines, the country’s leading consumer finance company, offers its customers support whenever they need financial assistance through a variety of products and services that cater to their needs. One of them is the Home Credit Cash Loan, a product that allows customers to get quick cash loans ranging from PhP3,000 to PhP150,000, which they can use for a wide range of expenses, especially for tuition fees and back-to-school purchases.

Reliable support in navigating life’s challenges

Such was the case for the 53-year-old Rowena Milleva Resaba, a resident of Barangay San Andres in Malvar, Batangas, whose goal has always been to provide for her family and ensure that they get the education they need to arm them for the future. Driven by relentless effort and unconditional love, she tirelessly works towards ensuring her family’s well-being.

As a breadwinner, wife, and mother of four, Rowena has faced numerous financial hurdles while taking care of her family. However, thanks to Home Credit Cash Loan, her family was given a lifeline—a crucial support that helped them navigate both their everyday and unexpected financial challenges.

Rowena first discovered Home Credit in 2017 during a visit to a nearby mall, which presented her with the opportunity to purchase a cellphone for one of her daughters to use for her studies. Fast forward to 2020 during the pandemic, Rowena and her husband were struggling financially, especially with three children studying at the same time—one in college and two in high school. Thankfully, Home Credit was there right when they needed it most.

(My ultimate dream for my children is for them to finish their studies, so they can provide a good life for their future children. This is why our finances at home really are focused on education.

In  2017, I took a loan from Home Credit to buy a cellphone that was used by my daughter for her studies. In 2020, I needed to take a cash loan for my children’s back-to-school expenses. My first loan was worth P40,000, my next one was worth P100,000, both were used to pay for my children’s studies and as capital for our small business).

Achieving educational dreams, one loan at a time

Home Credit’s provision of reliable support through cash loans helped Rowena and her family manage their expenses and improve their lives. Rowena’s dream of having her children finish their education was fulfilled as one of her three children graduated, and the remaining two are on their way to getting their diplomas as well.

“At Home Credit, we are committed to providing Filipinos with innovative solutions that enhance their lives. We are delighted to hear stories like Rowena’s, where our Cash Loan offering has provided essential support in overcoming their family’s challenges and pursuing their dreams.

It’s fulfilling to know that through our products, we can transform lives, one loan at a time. Stories like this fuel our commitment to being a financial partner that empowers our customers to achieve their goals and live better lives,” Sheila Paul, Chief Marketing Officer of Home Credit Philippines, remarked.

Rowena expressed her gratitude to Home Credit for playing a significant role in their lives.

“Malaking pagbabago ang nagawa ng Home Credit Cash Loan sa aming buhay. Nagpapasalamat ako sa Home Credit sa tulong na naibigay nito sa aking buong pamilya. Hindi ko malilimutan ang Home Credit hanggang sa huli,” she said.

(Home Credit Cash Loan has made a significant difference in our lives. I am grateful to Home Credit for the assistance it has provided to my entire family. I will never forget Home Credit for as long as I live.)

With the family’s trust in Home Credit, the company surprised them by awarding them PhP50,000 to help with Rowena’s family needs and her third daughter’s college expenses. Additionally, Home Credit gifted Rowena’s eldest daughter a smartphone for her son’s studies. This gesture serves as Home Credit’s token of appreciation for Rowena as a loyal customer of the company.

Qualified customers can easily apply for a Home Credit Cash Loan through the My Home Credit Loan App with just two simple requirements: being a Filipino citizen aged 18 to 68 years old and having at least one valid identification card. The Unspoken Power of Women: Making Everyday Decisions for Home Well-being

In a world where women’s roles are continually evolving, the significance of their contributions to the family often goes unnoticed. Beyond just maintaining the physical space, women play a pivotal role in decision-making, shaping the well-being and success of their families.

It’s been said that “behind every successful man is a woman,” yet “behind every successful woman is herself.”

Women have long been the unsung heroes, quietly but decisively steering the ship of family life. Indeed, their role is indispensable.

When it comes to household management, women call the shots. Their tasks cover everything from organising the daily schedule of her kids, especially if they are of school age, to ensuring healthy meals and a clean and orderly household. Overall, she ensures that her household runs as smoothly as possible, creating a nurturing environment for her loved ones, and, in doing so, hopes to build a better tomorrow for her family.
One mother joyfully said, “I have to ensure everything runs smoothly. Every detail should be considered because if I fail to do so, I feel like I failed my husband and my children, so I take this role seriously.”

EastWest Ageas Wins Quill and Anvil Awards

EastWest Ageas recently scored wins for its brand transition campaign from two prestigious award-giving bodies: an Award of Merit from the 20th Philippine Quill Awards and a Silver Award from the 59th Anvil Awards.

The two respected organizations recognize exemplary bodies of work in business communications, marketing, and public relations. “We are honored to receive these awards, as they show that we are on the right track on our journey to even greater success.  And I am immensely proud of our team,” shares EastWest Ageas President and CEO Sjoerd Smeets.

The Philippine Quill Awards is given by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines. These awards recognize excellence in strategic communication and outstanding communication skills in the country.

Entries are evaluated in three phases by distinguished panels of screeners, judges, and multi-sectoral jurors, both from the Philippines and abroad.

Rebranding to EastWest Ageas

The award-winning campaign was born through the partnership between EastWest Bank, one of the country’s fastest-rising banks with 30 years of local experience, and Ageas, the Belgium-based global insurance company with 200 years of insurance expertise. The company officially transitioned into EastWest Ageas in 2022.

“We needed a name that captures our ambitions to grow and serve more Filipinos so they can have a better tomorrow while also reinforcing our story to the public,” Joub Miradora, Chief Customer Officer, shares.

EastWest Ageas (EWA), formerly Troo, started its life insurance operations in the Philippines in 2015. In its first year, the company ranked 34th and reached the 12th spot by the end of 2022. Now, EastWest Ageas aims to grow even further in the industry by leveraging its strong corporate culture and a range of customer-centric business transformations. And the first transformation was the brand itself.

With these recognitions from the Philippine Quill Awards and the Anvil Awards, the brand transition is a testament to the power of taking risks and embracing the promise that transformation brings. More can be expected from EastWest Ageas in 2024 as the company continues to build a better tomorrow for all Filipinos.
